| Description | He has been meaning to write to Boys since his return from England. He is absorbed in plans for the coming solar eclipse and is interested in the shadow bands. He describes how he intends to watch the Sun and the equipment he will employ. Asks if Boys can suggest where to get better plates for an interferometer. Wood relates how he has cut himself deeply on an incandescent quartz fibre, but without pain or loss of blood: 'What a lovely tool for the surgeon if it could be controlled!' Lipman has sent him a sample improved picture. Encloses Hawaiian and Japanese stamps for Mrs Boys. |
