OtherInfo | In 1649, Howard was forced to give up his estates for recusancy and royalism. His finanicial situation was worsened by lawsuits brought against him and his mother by his older brother's family in the 1650s. His political and religious vagueness did him no favours during his trial following the Popish Plot however. The title Baron Stafford was restored to the Howard family in 1824, after being removed following his execution. |
