Reverend T Oldham's preparatory school at Blackheath, and Rugby; Minor Scholarship in classics to Trinity College, Cambridge (1898). Changed to natural science, first class in first part of tripos, trip to New Zealand, second part of Tripos, 1904. MA; Took his DSc in 1911.
Career:
Elected Fellow of Trinity College (1904), college lecturer in natural science (1906). Published 25 papers in the 'Journal of Physiology' (1904-14) on physico-chemical properties of nerves and muscles. At the same time he devised instruments of great ingenuity, elegance and precision.
Gave Croonian Lecture in 1912.
Became a Director of the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company (1906-1914) then joined the Royal Aircrat Factory, desingning many instruments for teaching and research.
