Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Andrew Russell Forsyth, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 11 October 1897 |
Description | Has accepted Sheppard's paper and ordered the abstract to be printed in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. They must now agree upon referees. Agrees to Forsyth's suggestions of [Karl] Pearson and [Francis] Galton, subject to the reminder that Galton's wife died during the vacation. On receipt of a letter from Forsyth to the effect that they agree on Pearson as first referee the paper will be sent to him.
Concerning Pearson's paper, Rucker has read through the greater part of the referee's remarks and Pearson's reply. Proposes writing to Pearson and asking him to make such changes as he thinks proper and to order the paper to be printed. Nothing will be done until he has Forsyth's approval. Sends the referee's reports, abstract read to Pearson, and his remarks there on [not enclosed]. Asks for these to be returned as soon as possible. |
