Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor [Karl] Pearson, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 26 May 1898 |
Description | Laid before the Council the correspondence between Rucker and Pearson as to a passage in the obituary notice of the late Professor Sylvester to which Pearson had taken exception. The Council agree that it would have been better if the passage had been omitted or modified in proof but think that it would give unnecessary importance if the page of the Proceedings on which it occurs was now recalled. Has informed the Council that instructions have been given which should prevent the particulars of obituary notices including relgious matters which could cause offence. |
