Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to E Tremlett Carter, Editor, 'The Electrician', 1-3 Salisbury Court, Fleet Street, E.C. |
Date | 8 June 1899 |
Description | With reference to Carter's letter of the 19th May asking if reporters are admitted to meetings of the Royal Society, the Society regards the discussions after the reading of a paper as private and does not wish them to be reported verbatim or commented on in detail. Abstracts of the papers to be read are sent to the press now when the authors direct that this should be done.
Describes the terms under which the Secretaries will allow Carter to send a reporter to meetings. Notes the admission of reporters is a new step and must be regarded as an experiment. |
