Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor George Howard Darwin, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 9 January 1900 |
Description | In reply to Darwin's card, the University of Leiden already receives the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' and the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' complete from the Society. Shall be glad to hear if in view of this Darwin still thinks that Dr Bakhuyzen's application, when it is made, should be favorably considered by the Committee. The Society receives nothing in exchange from the University but regard the observatory publications as an equivalent. Notes that in general the Committee has set its face against grants of the 'Philosophical Transactions' to astronomical observatories, especially in the smaller towns. |
