Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to John Evans, Treasurer of the Royal Society |
Date | 1 June 1888 |
Description | Asks if the Parliamentary grant for scientific papers has been passed yet, as Rix has prepared the Royal Society's report and application for Evans' signature should the grant be available.
Rix also discusses the fact that, contrary to William Turner Thiselton-Dyer's assertion, their ices are considered the best part of their refreshments and in fact better that the Royal Academy's ices, with the recent improvement of the Neopolitan ices being presented in paper. Rix asks if they should revert to 'others' as being no more expensive than the Neopolitan. Rix has sent for the confection and will then ascertain the facts with certainty, noting however any change as likely to be for the worse. Rix will do whatever Evans wishes in the matter.
A postscript notes a matter that Rix should have presented, and asks to send the cheque for 200 pounds to Robarts which has been entered in the cash-book. |
