Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir George Gabriel Stokes, President of the Royal Society |
Date | 1 November 1889 |
Description | Dr Michael Foster wishes for Rix to call attention to matters relating to the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers'.
He communicates Professor Judd's surprise that "Groth's Zeitschrift für Krystallographie in Mineralogie" and the 'Bulletin de la Société Minéralogique de France' are not being abstracted for the catalogue, and believes it to be a serious omission. The present decade of the catalogue is from 1873 to 1883, and these papers date from 1877 and 1878, and the new decade is in type as far as 'BER'.
Rix states that the key question is whether to interpolate the slips now, or issue a supplement to the decade. He notes the former option would involve stopping the press for at least a week, and the cataloguing of a periodical through part of the alphabet, though not the earlier part. Foster hopes that Stokes will call on him at the laboratory the next day, or he will call upon Stokes. |
