Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Dr Frederick Walker Mott, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 10 April 1905 |
Description | Like Geikie, Sir M Foster has some hesitation in signing the memorandum about Sleeping Sickness, on which the Society would have made some verbal alterations, but Foster has withdrawn these and agrees to sign. The memorandum is meant if possible to clear away doubt that seemed to exist in the mind of the Colonial Secretary and has been singed by: Lord Lister, Sir J Burdon Sanderson, Professor Ray Lankester, Sir M Foster, Colonel [David] Bruce, Dr J R Bradford, Professor [Charles Scott] Sherrington and Major R Ross. Foster would like Mott to know of his initial hesitation and hopes Mott will join him in signing.
The great object was to show the Colonial Office that there is quite enough known about the cause of Sleeping Sickness to justify the action the Society proposes. The memorandum has only been circulated to those whose name would carry weight. |
