| Description | Received a telephonic message from the President [William Huggins] this morning, requesting him to consult Geikie as to the propriety of sending a telegram to Sir David Gill, in these terms 'PRESIDENT ON BEHALF OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY GREAT SORROW DEATH WHARTON'. As Geikie has not come in [to the Office] Harrison has not felt justified in sending the telegram on his own responsibility, but he presumes that if it is desired to send it, Monday will do almost as well as today. Has written to the President to explain this and presumes that the President has written to the family. Also sends some letters which came today [not enclosed]. |
