Description | Has now traced the scales MacMahon was enquiring after [NLB/34/406]. It is clear the Kater Scale he mentions is the copy of the Imperial Standard Yard made under the direction of Captain Kater. Both this and the one described as 'Graham's Brass Standard Yard and diagonal scale by Sisson, made in 1742' were deposited in the Science Museum of the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1900, with other instruments belonging to the Royal Society. |
