| Description | Harrison explains that, in response to an enquiry, Professor Dalby of the Central Technical College has suggested that he might exhibit a small testing machine showing, by projection on a screen, the stress-strain curves continuously up to the breaking point of specimens. It is the device of Professor Ashcroft, and can be shown in operation. He asks if Crookes agrees that it would be an interesting exhibit.
Dalby has offered to show, if wanted, working models of a two cylinder locomotive in demonstration of the dynamical balance of engines and a pair of cylinders in action. Harrison asks for Crookes' decision on the proposals. |
