Description | Harrison has been directed to inform the Treasury that Professor [Arthur] Schuster, who has hitherto acted as British delegate at the conferences of the International Seismological Association, is unable to attend the forthcoming meeting which will take place at St Petersburg on 31 August. The President and Council consider that it would be highly undesirable that England should not be represented at the meeting, and so they nominate [George Walker] Walker, formerly superintendent of Eskdalemuir Observatory, now engaged in carrying out a magnetic survey of the British Isles. |
