| Description | 'The Council of the Royal Society have decided to approach HM Government with a memorial on the subject of the utilization of chemical research in the service of the State, especially in relation to the WAr, and the President of the Board of Trade has been asked to receive a deputation onthe subject. In order that the deputation may be representative of all departments of chemical science, I shall feel gratified if you can see your way to accompanying us when we attend to present the memorial.
I enclose for your information a copy of the memorial which the Council have approved, and will ask you to treat it as strictly confidential. [no enclosure]
