Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Professor William Palmer Wynne FRS |
Date | 14 May 1915 |
Description | 'I have been very tardy in fulfilling my promise to follow up my telegram with a letter, but really I have not been able to get a minute free during the last few days and I half expected you here yesterday. As to that deputation business, I can only say that your name has been on my list from the beginning, that there was no reason whatever for a notice being witheld from you, and that to the best of my knowledge and belief it was posted with all the others which were sent out immediately upon receipt of the letter from the Board of Trade fixing the date of the deputation. I did rather wonder at receiving no acknowledgment, but as that was the rule rather than the exception among that people written to I did not pursue that matter, and since Prof Smithells received his notice in due course and came, without having written in reply, I took it for granted.' |
