Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster |
Date | 3 June 1893 |
Description | Dr [William] Huggins offers for exhibition the drawing which accompanied his paper about to be read next Thursday. Rix believes this paper is controversial and he has not liked to accept Huggins' offer without referring the question to the Officers. Perhaps as Mr [Joseph Norman] Lockyer is exhibiting it will be fair to let Huggins too, but Rix asks Foster's opinion.
Rix notes they sent the 'ordinary printed letter' to Mr [Alfred] Russel Wallace with the foot-note about payment scratched out. Rix supposes some Fellow would pay Wallace's fee pro temp and it does not much matter if Wallace attends on the 8th.
Foster will perhaps remember that Hulke was requested to write an obituary notice for Dr [James] Jago, but declines to do so, at the same time mentioning certain notices in print. Rix does not know that Foster asked any one to write an obituary in Hulke's place but Mr [Edwin] Dunkin has sent in an unsolicted obituary which Rix has shown to Hulke and which Hulke thinks quite suitable for publication. Rix encloses it herewith and asks if he should put it into type [not attached]. |
