Date1964-1967
Description(Site 11. Collector: RR Doell).

Includes: exchange of letters with Richard R Doell, June 1964-August 1965 re exchange of samples, research methods and results. Some of the relevant research notes, eg codes of samples, lists of normal and reverse magnetisation, have been left accompanying the letters to which they refer. Several of the letters refer to Blackett's political activity and the scant amount of time available for research, but at the same time show his determination to continue his scientific work and the excitement he derived from the results;

Map of Icelandic lavas with extensive notes by Doell, perhaps sent October 1964 (see correspondence of that date);

Notes and calculations by Blackett on Doell's Kauai samples, some dated 1966 and 1967;

Worksheets on Doell's samples by JL Langbein and Blackett, June 1965, with note by Blackett '17.7.67 Removed data sheet for app. of paper'
