Description | Blackett's earlier involvement with the problems of atomic weapons began in 1945 (see especially D.148-218).
It will be seen from the items below that he continued to voice his concern the subject almost continuously until 1964 (cf Bernard Lovell, 'P.M.S. Blackett: A Biographical Memoir', Royal Society: 1976, p75). It is also clear how widely he lectured on this topic, to political, military, religious and academic audiences of varying composition and influence.
Several items in the list below represent published talks and lectures omitted from the Bibliography in the R.S. Memoir, and many more are unpublished.
The material is presented as follows:
F.52-79 Lectures, broadcasts, talks. 1948-1964 F.80-82 Correspondence. 1958-1964 F.83-85 Research notes and background material.
Additional material on these topics appears widely in the collection, and especially in Sections D, G and H. |
