Description | Plate 4 (published as plate XV) containing figures 45-54 and diagrams 1-2. Figures 45-54 show various angles and stages of dissection of the the right and left ventricles of the hearts of sheep, heifers, American elk, and deer. These figures were drawn from photographs taken by James Pettigrew. Diagrams 1-2 show nets and wool representing the placement and pattern of muscular fibres.
