Description | Plate 5 (published as plate XVI) containing figures 55 and diagrams 3-18. Figure 5 shows a sheep's heart separated into bilateral elements. This figure was drawn from a photograph taken by James Pettigrew. Diagrams 3-18 show sheets of net and paper threaded with wool representing the placement and pattern of muscular fibres in various parts of the heart.
