Some of this material was kept separately as early as 1932, with the referee reports remaining in the main sequence of volumes but subsequent correspondence with referees and authors filed separately in this sequence. From 1938 the standard referee report forms for withdrawn papers were usually removed from the main sequence of reports and filed here along with any associated correspondence.
The term "withdrawn" has been used to identify this sequence, though it includes reports for papers withdrawn by their authors and papers rejected outright by the Royal Society itself. |
