Title | Letter from Alexander Scott, Terrace Palace Hotel, Engelberg, Switzerland, to [Gilbert Thomas Morgan] |
Creator | Scott; Alexander (1853-1947); British chemist |
Recipient | Morgan; Sir Gilbert Thomas (1870-1940); British chemist |
Date | 25 June 1933 |
Description | Scott will not be at the Anniversary Meeting of the Royal Society Club, missing the dinner for the first time in many years. He wishes to point out that his motion to remove the words 'in the Royal Society' from rule 1 is because this was inserted at the time of the merger with the Philosphical Club in 1901 and was insisted upon by them. The Philosphical Club was 'ultra Roy. Soc.' and did not consider anyone who was not F.R.S. being part of the united Club. He hopes the meeting will be a success and not elect too many chemists. |
