Title | Letter from E J [Edwin John] Butler, 34 Glazbury Road, Baron's Court, London, to [Harry Ralph] Ricardo |
Creator | Butler; Edwin John (1874-1943); Irish plant pathologist |
Recipient | Ricardo; Sir Harry Ralph (1885-1974); British mechanical engineer |
Date | 25 October 1940 |
Description | He can make no helpful suggestions as to how to carry on the Royal Society Club under the new circumstances. Dinners in London seem out of the question and lunches would not appeal to members. The banker's orders are another difficulty and he thinks they should send a circular cancelling these before the next subscriptions are due. Butler has had a bad breakdown in health, and should have been replaced; but he will carry on as there is nothing to do. |
