DescriptionThe annual Parliamentary Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Investigations was established in 1851, and continued to be administered by the Royal Society into the early 1980s, when the scheme was wound up and replaced by the University Research Fellowship scheme. A detailed account of the establishment and administration of the scheme can be found in 'The Record of the Royal Society' (4th edition).

Committee agenda and minutes have been retained from 1849 onwards; see CMB/66 for details. Other cash books and ledgers can be found in AB/2/13-15.
