TitleLetter from [John Meade Falkner], Elswick Works, Newcastle upon Tyne, to [Alan Archibald] Campbell Swinton
CreatorFalkner; John Meade (1858-1932); English novelist, poet, and chairman of Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd
Date19 December 1895
DescriptionAcknowledges Swinton's kind note, stating he has shown it to Cochrane, who agreed with him that Swinton is a poet at heart. Refers to Swinton's reading of ghost stories at night at Naples. Thanks Swinton for buying a copy of his novel, "The Lost Stradivarius", appreciative of his criticism, considering Swinton's anti-supernatural stance. Surprised to receive good feedback from Lord [William George] Armstrong due to his dislike of the supernatural in fiction, featuring an excerpt from his letter. Requests for his bicycle to be sent to Waterloo addressed to him at Weymouth Station to be called for.
