Title | Letter from [William George] Armstrong, Cragside, Rothbury, to [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, 66 Victoria [Street], London, S.W |
Creator | Armstrong; William George (1810 - 1900); Baron Armstrong of Cragside; armaments manufacturer and industrialist |
Date | 9 August 1891 |
Description | Informs he has no hydraulic crane[?] at Cragside, stating it is only applicable where the propelling water is the same as that which is to be forced. States that in his case the lake water is applied to pure spring water & that is done by a water purifier engine. He is not aware that anyone has a special reputation for hydraulic items, supposing Swinton could go to any London fiirms that refer to themselves as Hydraulic Engineers. He is making progress with the new contact breakers and obtained very fair results. |
