Description | In reply to the letter Swinton sent to his son, Cameron, relating to the use of his electric lamp at Alnwick Castle. States that Swinton is right in what he proposed to say, that it was early in 1881 that the experiment was made in the castle, shortly after the lamp had been installed at Cragside. Comments that he was not aware of [William] Crookes having had early light, and that the eearliest houses lighted in the South was that of [William] Spottiswoode. |
