Title | Letter from [William George] Armstrong, Cragside, Rothbury, to [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, 66 Victoria [Street], London, S.W |
Creator | Armstrong; William George (1810 - 1900); Baron Armstrong of Cragside; armaments manufacturer and industrialist |
Date | 28 May 1892 |
Description | Informs he has tested the question of positive or negative by the dipping of lead into dilute sulphuric acid and has found that the current which he always treated as positive is that which browns the lead on the opposite side remains bright, and as his switch is not a reversing one there is no room for mistake. Adds that to reverse the current it is necessary to detach the wires and cross them. Informs he has sent the greater part of the negatives to Newton & Co. Asks Swinton to look at the slides once they are done to check that they are of a satisfactory standard. |
