TitleLetter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Monsieur Georges Morane, La Societe des Automobiles Delahaye, 10 Rue du Banquier, Paris
CreatorSwinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer
Date10 December 1920
DescriptionFollows up on a previous discussion regarding the reversible governor mechanism patented as the “Système Kirchen.” Attaches an excerpt from the journal The Motor Ship & Motor Boat, dated 5 September 1919, which provides further information about the system, in hope that the enclosed details will meet Horace’s needs [enclosure not present]. Comments on the practical applications of the system, mentioning that while the mechanism works well for small boats, it has not been as successful when applied to larger vessels. For instance, noteing that its use on pinnaces of the British Admiralty did not yield significant success. Offers to obtain additional information about the system if needed but suggests that the attached excerpt might suffice.
