Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Burbury |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 31 January 1921 |
Description | Informs he listened at 8.45 two evenings in a row but, as several C. W transmissions were going on on 1000 metres, he was unable to ascertain which one was Burbury's. Comments the transmissions were not loud enough to work the siphon recorder and were too quick for him to read by ear. He additionally failed to detect Burbury's call sign. Doubts the functionality of his resistance amplifier below certain distances. Proposes that Burbury sends him a short message for a minute or two one night, so he can reattempt detecting them. |
