Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to The Editor, "Nature" |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 5 March 1921 |
Description | Referring to Mr Geoffrey Martin's letter, informs he thought it very possible taht the idea was not new when he put his suggestion in the form of an enquiry. Mentions the dicovery of the dissapearance of electrical resistance at very low temperatures by Dr Onnes, stating it does not appear certain whether, at such temperatures, when electrical conductivity in metals becomes infinite, either the Pletier effect or the correspondinig opposite themopilr effect would operate. Suggests these effects may be enhanced and possibly may disappear depending on the effect of the low temperatures. |
