Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to H. H. T. Burbury [Esquire] |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 31 March 1921 |
Description | Informs he went to Burbury's brother-in-law the Admiral and that they were unable to hear anything, either telegraphic or telephonic, that they could ascribe to him. With reference to Burbury's previous letter, he does not know the exact capacity of the condensers he is using to tune his intervalve transformers. Explains they are very small ones made by Sullivan, each containing four semi-circular plates, two movable and two fixed, each plate having about two square inches of area. Informs they are winding some more transformers and adopting Burbury's plan of using valve sockets and bases so that the transformers can easily be changed. Keen to hear how Burbury got on with his transofrmers for very long waves, and whether he finds it best, to wind the two wires together or to put them in separate grooves. Comments on having obtained good results with his 150-turn transformers. |
