DescriptionWishes to ascertain whether, when Houstoun went to see Ricardo, they told him that the Inland Revenue have suddenly sprung a claim on Ricardo for a sum of nearly £12, 000 for Income Tax and Super-Tax on the amount he received for the Tanks some six or seven years of age. Comments on how much of a shock it was to him. States that he, Goodenough, De La Rue. and Beale were appointed by the Board a Committee to go into the question of a settlement with Ricardo and a renewal of his agreement. Notifies that De La Rue is still abroad and that the meeting still went ahead ten days ago, but that Beale died suddenly. Himself and Goodenough are due to meet again on 25 April, by which time the accountants will have tried to see whether they can get the Inland Revenue to take anything less. Notifies Houstoun on his health and regular injections he has been receiving.
