TitleLetter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to John H. Barker [Esquire], c/c Messrs Greenwood & Batley, Leeds
CreatorSwinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer
Date26 January 1927
DescriptionWritten by A. W. Langley, Swinton's Secretary, acknowledging a previous letter, including a copy of Barker's address. States that Sir Charles Parsons seems to have misunderstood what Swinton wanted to know in regard to the site for the generating station at Cambridge, explaining it was not about the site of the Chesterton Junction that he spoke to Sir Charles, which the Wireless Supply Co. bought in 1900 which it still owns. What Swinton wished to ascertain was where the original site owned by the Corporation of Cambridge for the erection of a generating station, before the existing station was built, was situated, and which Corporation site was rejected by Sir Charles Parsons as being unsuitable for a generating station for the Electric Supply Co.
