TitleLetter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Sir Alfred Yarrow
CreatorSwinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer
Date2 January 1928
DescriptionAcknowledges receipt of a previous letter, commenting on its lengthy nature. Assures that all considerations Yarrow mentions have been carefully taken into account with regard to Lord Askwith, but points out that with regard to what Yarrow said on the matter of "close distinction", the recent Parliamentary Deputation to the Home Secretary on dog racing was introduced by Mr. Thomas, the Labour Member, while another Labour Member of Parliament Mr. Joe Compton, not only attended this Deputation but has written a letter in the Morning Post on 30 December, in which he shows himself a most uncompromising opponent of dog racing. Comments on the unpleasantness of attacking a colleague but that the colleague has brought such attacks upon himself by going into a venture the prospectus of which shows he is expecting to make large financial profits out of it.
