| Description | Confesses that what Magnus said after a Royal Society of Arts meeting incensed him so much that he did not verbally express himself at the time. States he is not accustomed to being lectured on how he should conduct himself on a Council of which he has been a member for many years, listing examples of institutions. Certain that Lord Askwith told them what he stated but anyway, his communication was only sent to those that heard his statement themselves and know what he had said. Believes that he and those associated with him in this matter have cause for complaint of the way in which Magnus treated it as Chairman, mentioning that the original letter sent to Magnus was signed, among others, by all the three past Chairmen of Council who at present attend the Council meetings, together with Sir Charles Parsons, the most eminent member of Council. Complains that when they first handed him the letter to Lord Askwith, a week later they found he had done nothing. Adds that a second letter, based on a draft by Sir Thomas Holland, was altered by Magnus and addressed to Lord Askwith. Refers to a Council meeting of 13 February at which Askwith made his statement, and Magnus, for the first time, took his side. |
