Refers to the last raid, when two large bombs fell in Piccadilly, near the circus, which killed 7 people and broke a tremendous amount of glass. Mentions he was at the Monument in Sloane Square and that the noise was considerable, even at that distance but at the time he was unaware of what it was attributed to. States he is academically interested in an ongoing case but has not been involved. Reports being very busy writing his address to the Royal Society of Arts, "Science and its Functions" and gives updates pertaining to mutual friends.
