Description | Bowen shares newspaper cuttings describing two lectures delivered by James Hector to the Wellington Philosophical Society on the topic of tidal disturbances and earthquakes experienced in New Zealand in August 1868. Bowen asks that details of the lectures be forwarded to the Royal Society. At the time, the Duke of Buckingham was the Secretary of the State for the Colonies. Preceded by a covering letter from Frederic Roger to the Secretary of the Royal Society, dated 6 November 1868.
