Description | Doran's observations have been made during the preparation of a series of the small ear bones of the higher Vertebrata for the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an undertaking which was commenced in the autumn of 1874. Doran aims to demonstrate how far the characteristics of the auditory ossicles of the Mammalia accord with those distinctions throughout the whole organisation which have assisted anatomists in giving a definite position to each member of the class.
Annotations in ink throughout. Includes seven plates of figures of the auditory ossicles of various mammals.
