Title | Letter from J. Smith Whitaker, Medical Secretary of the British Medical Association, to Professor Joseph Larmor and Sir Archibald Geikie, Secretaries of the Royal Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly |
Date | 4 April 1906 |
Description | Informs the Royal Society that the Home Secretary in the House of Commons has made statements on the question of experimental investigations on animals, and proposes to establish an enquiry into the subject. Informs them that there are two Bills about animal experimentation before the House of Commons that would 'exercise a disastrous effect on the sciences of physiology and pathology'. Asks if the Royal Society will tell the Secretary of State that a comprehensive enquiry should be established and that no Bills should be permitted to go forward in the meantime. |
