TitleCopy letter from [John Rose Bradford] the Secretary of the Royal Society, to the Secretary, H.M. Treasury
Date2 November 1909
DescriptionThe Society has received a letter from Professor Delage, Director of the Roscoff Zoological Station in Brittany, calling attention to the facilities at Roscoff, including 25 new laboratories. These are being offered to various States for use in research at 1500 francs per annum and there is no doubt as to the Station's importance in biological science. The Royal Society has no funds to apply for researchers wishing to use the laboratories. Delage also asks for a set of Challenger Reports. The Royal Society recommended the presentation of a set to Roscoff in 1895. It appears that the set destined for Roscoff was never placed there, as Henri de Lacaze-Duthiers, who was also Director at Banyuls, sent the set there, where it is in constant use. He asks on behalf of the Royal Society if another set can be sent to Roscoff. Another application has been received from the Commonwelath Parliamentary Library of Australia. Before anything is allocated, Bradford would like to know if the latter would be available for active researchers.
