TitleMemorandum, Herbert Hall Turner, to Robert Harrison
Date18 January 1908
DescriptionNothing should be done to imperil work on the astrographic catalogue, although the chart is unlikely to be started in Australia. He supports the general resolution, but this refers to an existing proposal to found a solar observatory, and does not initiate a new one. Solar work has been done elsewhere in addition to labour on the astrographic catalogue. There is an oligation to incease national equipment for those nations who can afford it.

In response to a request from Robert Harrison, the Assistant Secretary, for members of the Royal Society's Solar Research Committee to express their views on the establishment of a station for solar photography in Australia, bearing in mind existing commitments of Australian Observatories in conection with the astrographic chart.
