TitleCopy letter from Arthur Schuster, Victoria Park, Manchester, to the Permanent Secretary, Colonial Office, London
Date9 December 1907
DescriptionReproducing the resolution proposed by Sir J. Norman Lockyer at a meeting of the Inernational Union for Solar Research, on the establishment of a station for solar photography in Australia. Schuster asks if this can be brought to the attention of authorities likely to give the matter proper effect. An Australian station would fill in an important gap in the longitude of existing observatories. Worldwide distribution of observatories is desirable in order to fix exactly the timing of any sudden events on the Sun and the climactic conditions in Australia seem favourable.
