Description | Dr Fern provides his own account of a foetus existing outside of the womb after Barthélemy Saviard published an account of the same in the Journal des sçavans in November 1696. Fern describes the woman's labour, inability to give birth, and then death, then provides details of the woman's post-mortem, in which the foetus and placenta were found to be located outside of the womb.
