Description | This (al)chemical engine is called a 'machina metero-poetica' and was sent to the Royal Society by the governor of the Pleissenburg in Leipzig [Saxony, Germany], a mathematician who was especially interested in the making of optical instruments. The engine was discussed in the Royal Society meeting on 24 May 1677, 'but not thought satisfactory'.
