Description ' The Chairman of the Physical Sciences Research Committee, consulted in January 1966, approved a recommendation to be made to Council by the Treasurer and the Physical Secretary that a grant of up to £756-16-0 from the Scientific Investigations Grant - in - aid be made to Dr P E Baker, Mackinnon Research Student, to enable him to visit Easter Island and the Juan Fernandez Group in the period February - June 1966 in connexion with his research on the volcanology and petrology of island - arcs and mid - ocean ridges.

The Chairman of the Physical Sciences Research Committee, consulted in October 1966, agreed on behalf of the Committee that permission be given to Dr P E Baker to visit the West Indies [Caribbean] for four weeks in January 1967 to supervise a research student while carrying out field work on the geochemistry of recent volcanic rocks from the Lesser Antilles.

The Physical Sciences Research Committee, consulted by correspondence in March 1967, agreed to recommend to Council that a grant of £100 be made to Dr P E Baker, Mackinnon Research Student, to assist him to participate in the XIV General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (for the sessions of the International Association of Volcanology) in Switzerland from 25 September to 7 October 1967.

The Physical Sciences Research Committee, consulted by correspondence in May 1967, agreed to recommend to Council that the Mackinnon Research Studentship held by Dr P E Baker be renewed for a further year from 1 October 1967 at a stipend of £1670 per annum.

The Physical Sciences Research Committee, consulted by correspondence in January 1968, agreed to recommend to Council that a grant of £200 be made to Dr P E Baker, Mackinnon Research Student, to assist him with the expenses of accommodation excursion fees and travel within the Caribbean area while attending the Fifth Caribbean Geological Conference in St Thomas, Virgin Islands, in July 1968. '
