6. Report to Council
' Agreed to submit to Council the following advice ;
6a. The Committee reports that;
i. it has examined the replies from Fellows to RS Circular 13 (63) and concludes that there is a good measure of sentiment in favour of the Society participating in the scheme
ii. there are rather few suggestions of younger scientists of distinction who might be suitable for the Awards
iii some Fellows of the Royal Society at or near retiring age have expressed personal interest in the Awards
6b. The Committee concludes that numerically the response is not sufficient for the Society publicly to promote the scheme but that the scheme is worth supporting.
6c. The Committe recommends that there should be further collaboration with the Committee for University Secondment with a view to assisting in the assessment of candidates and to seeking possible modification of the scheme to extend the field of recruitment
6d. The Committee suggests that it should continue negotiations with the Committee for University Secondment and that it be given powers of co-option for this purpose '

7. Next meeting - agreed that ' subject to Council's agreement to the recommendation and suggestions made above, the Committe should meet again on 3, 5 or 7 February 1964 and that Mr Dodderidge (British Council), Mr F Dunhill (Department of Technical Co-operation), Mr I C M MAxwell (Inter-Universioty Council for Higher Education Overseas) and Professor A W Skempton should be invited.
