1. Membership - Council had appointed Sir James Lighthill as Chairman on death of Professor E N da C Andrade on 6 June 1971 and Dr J F Scott, Editor of the 'Correspondence of Isaac Newton' on 17 Aaugust 1971, and Professor A R Hall, Mr J W Herivel, Dr M A Hoskin and Dr J Needham to serve from 1 January 1972 in place of Dr E S de Beer and Sir John Craig who had retired from membership of the Committee on 31 December 1971.

2. Minutes - confirmed minutes of meeting of 13 January 1965 [NL/1(65)] Librarian noted no part-time adviser had been appointed and it was agreed that this recommendation be rescinded.

7. Recommendations to the Council;
7.1 Minute 5 - That Professor A R Hall be appointed Editor of 'The Correspondence of Isaac Newton' from 1 February 1972 in succession to Dr J F Scott, deceased, and that provision be made for payment of an honorarium and expenses of £2,000 per annum.
7.2 Minute 6 - That provision be made for the paymnent of £1000 per annum plus superannuation, National Insurance and Graduated Pension from 1 June 1972 for a full-time assistant to the Editor of 'The Correspondence of Isaac Newton'.
