Present; Sir Edward Sabine, President of the Royal Society in the Chair, Mr Browning, Mr Burn, Mr Dallmeyer, Mr De La Rue, Dr William Huggins, Mr Knott, Mr Lassell, Mr Lockyer, Dr Miller, Professor W H Miller, Reverend Professor Pritchard, Dr Sharpey, Professor Stokes, Colonel Strange, Mr Whitbread

Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed, and those of two meetings of the Royal Astronomical Society Society.

A letter urging the great importance of establishing a satisfactory organisations was read from the Astronomer Royal.

A list of volunteers was read by Mr Huggins, and a circular from the Royal Astronomical Society to whose terms most of the volunteers had agreed.

Resolutions were passed regarding the preliminary arrangements for photography, spectroscopy, polarization and general objects; the Sub-committee appointed by the Royal Society to ascertain from the Government what aid they might give; that the Government may provide finance as well as transportation; that the Sub-committee bring to the Govenment's attention the importance of two ships for Spain and Sicily respectively.
